Call for Abstracts

Authors are invited to submit abstracts for oral OR poster presentation by Monday 17 May 2010 for consideration by the Scientific Program Committee.

As a new innovation the Organising Committee would like to encourage poster presentations of clinically relevant patient case reports.

Please note that all presenting authors are required to register and pay by Monday 12 July 2010. Registration payment not received by this date will result in presenters being withdrawn from the program.

Topics

Abstracts may be submitted on any topic relevant to the menopause and its treatment.

Abstract Submission Categories

Oral: Successful applicants will be requested to make a 10 minute oral presentation during the scientific program. The 10 minute presentation will be followed by 5 minutes of question and answer time (total of 15 minutes)

Poster: Successful poster applicants will be requested to design a poster presentation that outlines their abstract. This poster will be displayed in the Meeting venue for the duration of the Meeting.

Poster Case Presentation: Successful case report poster applicants will be requested to design a poster presentation which outlines the details of the case report and its clinical relevance as in their abstract. The poster will be displayed in the Meeting venue for the duration of the Meeting

Instructions

  1. Abstracts must be prepared according to the Microsoft WORD abstract template
  2. Your 250 word abstract should include the aims of your study, brief details of methods, results and key conclusions. Abstracts should be descriptive and concise.
  3. Abstracts should NOT contain references, tables or figures.
  4. Abstracts should be submitted via email as an attachment saved in Microsoft WORD to the APMF 2010 Meeting Managers at apmf2010@arinex.com.au. Please indicate clearly in your covering email if you are submitting for an oral or poster presentation.
  5. Receipt of abstracts will be acknowledged. Authors will be advised by Early June 2010 whether their abstracts have been accepted.
  6. Abstracts will be selected according to the following criteria:
    • originality and interest
    • structure and clarity
    • scientific validity
    • potential significance
  7. Successful abstracts will be published and distributed to delegates at the Meeting.

Preparing Your Abstract

Please adhere to the following specifications in preparing your abstract. Please ensure you download the abstract template from the Meeting website prior to preparing your abstract.

  1. Ensure that your abstract is grammatically correct and free of other errors.
  2. Use single spacing for all text.
  3. The font size must not be smaller than 12 point.
  4. Use a short and concise title that indicates the content of the abstract. Capitalise each word and underline or italicise scientific names.
  5. Use standard abbreviations. Capitalise the first letter in trade names. When using abbreviations for compounds, spell out the name in full at the first mention. Do not use abbreviations in the title of the abstract.
  6. Authors’ names should not be in capital letters, and must be listed for example, as Smith, John. If there is more than one author, please underline the name of the author presenting the paper. Each author should be listed by department, division, institute, city, state and country.
  7. Disclosure statement: please note that we require all authors to make a statement about possible dualities or conflicts of interest. A duality is an association with a commercial or other sponsor that could potentially affect your independence or objectivity. Was the study to be reported in your paper in any way subject to a duality of interest? If so, please state the nature of this duality at the conclusion of your abstract. The source of funding for the study should be acknowledged in the abstract.
  8. Please indicate in your covering email whether your abstract is being submitted for oral presentation or poster presentation.
